Scott Bessent, the US Treasury Secretary, is scheduled to visit Kyiv this week to begin discussions on opportunities for American companies in Ukraine's mining sector.
This information is reported by Bloomberg citing its sources.
Bessent will be the first member of Donald Trump's cabinet to visit Ukraine.
Mike Voltz, Trump's national security advisor, stated that discussions regarding future aid to Ukraine will take place this week.
On February 3, US President Donald Trump expressed interest in signing a deal with Ukraine for rare earth metals in exchange for military supplies.
Later, Zelensky indicated plans to meet with senior US officials.
"We need to cover these costs, and it will be a partnership with Ukrainians regarding their rare earths, their natural resources, their oil and gas, as well as purchasing our products," Voltz said during the "Meet the Press" program on NBC. "These talks are scheduled for this week," Bloomberg quotes Voltz.
